Yonatan Watts is Canada’s next super producer
In order to be a truly great producer and musician in general, anyone will tell you that you have to have range and a diverse palette of styles to draw from. One producer that embodies the value of diversity is artist/producer Yonatan Watts.
Watts grew up in Toronto with parents who had “a rich palette when it came to music” and pushed their son from a young age to pursue music. The young musician began diving into everything from Japanese and anime culture to soul and R&B.
“I used to listen to these songs of my favorite manga/anime and used to sing them and make my own versions. Eventually, people kept telling me that I had a natural gift for singing,” Watts explained.
Watts would get his first big break at 18 on the show Canadian Idol where he would make it past the top 100 and deep into the competition. It was then that he realized that he “was meant to do music.”
Since taking music seriously, Watts has landed producing credits with the likes of Ariana Grande, Desiigner, Eric Bellinger, and Lil Durk, among many others.
Now living in LA, Watts looks to capitalize off of his success with his upcoming collaborations with Jordin Sparks and Tamar Braxton.
