Eastside’s Very Own, Airplane James delivers yet another beautiful dedication to his section in his recent EP release!
If you’ve never heard of Airplane James, today is the day you get put on. Hailing from the East Side of South Central, Los Angeles, APJ epitomizes the true LA sound of the century. This project follows his release of two singles and his last EP titled, “Eastside Special.” APJ is definitely one of the fastest growing artists in the ranks right now. This EP had absolutely no skips and I personally wish it were a little longer. I honestly didn’t realize the album was over when I played it through the first time. His samples, collaborations, creative direction, and work ethic as a whole is based on an outstanding amount of consistency and dedication. The real ones will tell you that’s all it truly takes.
The first single to drop off of ‘WTFISAPJ?’ was ‘FWU’, featuring his good friend, Sham1016. This release was certainly considered an anthem in the city. He even followed up with a remix with local Compton artist, Kee Riches. The West Coast has the ball in it’s court and we aren’t giving up any turnovers!
The first record off the project instantly draws you in with a cold, classic beat AND a Problem feature. These two created an infectious melody that definitely set the mood off right. In following, APJ dropped the Lay Low (Freestyle) as a single so as fans, we already knew what it was! With an sample from the late, great Nate Dogg, you can’t help but to feel nostalgic.
Every melody on this EP adds on to that real LA flavor profile. For the record, Static is definitely my favorite joint right now! The New LA definitely has something to say.
