Who Should Be On Your Radar in 2020: Part 3

To say I was overly excited about the West Coast music scene is an understatement. W’s should be handed out across the board and many artists showed off their creativity and leveled up from the previous year. We even got introduced to new artists who created their own lanes. We surely had our hands full trying to keep up with the endless amount of music and projects that were being released weekly.

Here is Part 3 of our #WhoShouldBeOnYourRadarin2020 list. Enjoy.

Airplane James

Eastside South Central’s Airplane James is rapidly rising to the top of the charts as he did not disappoint this year. James makes timeless music that represents that true West Coast sound and also makes for great traffic music. One of his big records of the year was his love anthem “FWU” featuring Sham1016 that had us in our feelings. His sound is authentic and it’s not many artists who can deliver the way he does. Look for James to take it to the next level in 2020.

IceColdBishop

IceColdBishop didn’t have to release much music to see he is a beast behind the mic. His talent is like no other, his fiery bars and introspective wordplay will keep you on your feet. At over 600k views and counting, he visited the COLORS studio earlier this year and performed his “IRATE” record live and it’s one of the best live performances you will see this year. The West Coast is in good hands and it’s just a matter of time before his music touches the rest of the world. 2020 is going to be an exciting year for ICB.

J.R Cruise

Los Angeles rapper J.R Cruise’s debut project “Seeds” was a fantastic body of work that really embodies why he is next to blow. The 14-track project is an introduction to the talent level that J.R is gifted with and it doesn’t get more West Coast then this. It’s nothing short of vibes on Seeds and from first listen you will be hooked. This is only the beginning for J.R and he already set the bar high. Let’s hope people take notice in 2020 and gives the recognition he deserves.

Seafood Sam

One of the hottest artists coming out of Long Beach is Seafood Sam. He isn’t your typical artist, you can tell he holds himself and his music to the highest level possible. A couple of months back, he released his project “Dior Velour” and it truly is a masterpiece. The production is soulful and buoyant, while he blesses each track with his animated flow and impeccable storytelling. He is building a notable resume and has a bright future ahead. Go listen to his catalog and get hip to Seafood Sam.

Swifty Blue

Paramount rapper Swifty Blue has stayed busy this year and still hasn’t stopped. I don’t even know where to start. He dropped 3 projects this year – Grimey Gang, No Looking Back, and most recently, Took Some Losses and each carries a theme. One thing Swifty does is speaks his truth and he touches on everyday things that we can relate to. He also shows mad love throughout the city, collaborating with some of the hottest producers and artists. His hard work is motivation and his music catalog is full of bangers. I’m sure he’s going to come even stronger in 2020.
