Who Should Be On Your Radar in 2020: Part 1
To say I was overly excited with the West Coast music scene is an understatement. W’s should be handed out across the board and many artists showed off their creativity and leveled up from the previous year. We even got introduced to new artists who created their own lanes. We surely had our hands full trying to keep up with the endless amount of music and projects that were being released weekly.
Here is Part 1 of our #WhoShouldBeOnYourRadarin2020 list. Enjoy.
TrapDes
TrapDes has definitely lived up to his name this year. The legend himself did not drop not one bad song in my opinion and his arrogant and high energy lingo is one that cannot be duplicated. He kept us on our toes over the past 12 months, dropping one of my favorite songs “The Man, The Myth, The Legend” and a few of projects in – Legend With a Bankroll, The Legend and Laudiano the Legend with producer Laudiano. He stayed consistent and showed love across the city. He stays true to who he is and 2020 should be even a bigger year for the rapper.
BlueBucksClan
Duo DJ and Jeezy make up BlueBucksClan and 2019 was an exciting year for them. One of their biggest accomplishments is the visual for “Make Niggas Leave” is over 3 million and counting. Everything they have released this year has done numbers and it’s really not hard to get hooked after the first listen. They create street music for the real bosses over diverse instrumentals and provide plenty of catchy one-liners for your Instagram captions. Look out for them to have a huge 2020 and also go stream their new EP, No Rules.
PettyPetty
PettyPetty knows the recipe for making hit songs. He put on for his section earlier in the year releasing a joint project with up-and-coming artist Gusto Leimert titled “90043” that represented their come up. I believe he’s a staple in what’s going on with LA’s underground market and I’m sure many people would agree. He came strong on last month’s EP release No Comparison filled with heavy production and bars. 2020 should be PettyPetty’s year to shine so stay tuned.
Lotto Rocket
Lotto Rocket may have only dropped one solo song this year, but that isn’t why he made our list. From the start of this year, I have not seen him take a break. I would give him the most consistent artist of 2019. He’s built a buzz for himself, opening up for Shoreline Mafia at a number of shows as well as most recently going on his first tour with Rucci across the West Coast. He did the necessary steps this year to become a household name in 2020.
Siete
Compton’s Siete put himself on the map with the July release project Ccut From A Blue Cloth. He showed his versatility – spreading himself out. He can rap while also slowing it down and giving melodies. With just one feature on the project, he can hold his own and all ten tracks are bangers. “Love” and “Blue Light” are two of my favorites off the project as he touches on relatable topics that’s sure to have you pressing the repeat button. He ends the year with a new project in Compton Soul Child. Keep him on your radar in 2020.
