So Cal Emcee D-Taylor Drops Off His New EP, ‘Take 3’
Southern California is the home of bouncy, infectious Hip-Hop music, traditionally. Boasting legends like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, combined with heat-of-the-moments artists like Blue Bucks Clan or 03 Greedo, So Cal has always been responsible for some of the most engaging party music in the genre. Looking to further evolve the California sound while still paying homage, Costa Mesa rapper D-Taylor checks in with his new EP, Take 3.
Clocking in at 3-tracks, Take 3 is an engaging project that finds D-Taylor leaning more into the wavy side of things. Throughout the 6-minute runtime, Taylor slices through a trio of thumping, high-energy beats as he gets out his comfort zone to deliver a highly accessible project. Utilizing West Coast inspired production to his advantage, he showcases amazing stamina as he hardly takes a break throughout the project, opting to ditch splashy guest verses for a more calculated singular perspective. The one exception, though, comes in the form of, “Wholesale,” a standout track that features Taylor going back and forth with another exciting So Cal prospect, Airplane James.
