Ronnie Rage Switches Realities On New Project “Anti.vers”

Ronnie Rage (R.A.G.E.-Rise Above Generic Expectations), a rising Chicago rapper, expands his catalog with his sophomore album “Anti.vers.” The project follows up on Ronnie’s 2021 project, Born Outside, in which he juxtaposes real-life experiences with the fantastical nature of outer space, as heard in the production and seen on the album cover.

The laid-back Trap-infused “Hellbound” kicks off the album. The following single, “Onyx,” tells the story of his love life and is laced with a little bragging about his pop lifestyle. Ronnie takes things up a notch in “Nightcrawler,” displaying his vocal dexterity. In the hard-hitting “Bad Timing,” the artist gets into his Hip-Hop bag. The thumping bass and drums accompany his message to his ex, who has noticed a change in his life and wishes to reconnect.

The 11-track project is full of Instagram caption lyrics that show off Ronnie’s wit,
lines like: “I just flew to Houston just to see if you could dance” on “Onyx” or “Plug
must work for Uber with how fast that n***a pull up” on “Exodus.” Production-wise, the
record leans heavily into electronic trap, with thumping bass, laser sounds and 808s all
main characters.

Ronnie Rage released two singles prior to “Anti.vers”: “Exodus” in April and “Tiptoe/Snottynose” in May. The rapper has received widespread local support, including appearances at Subterranean and Bourbon on Division, as well as recent co-signs from Chicago platforms such as Lyrical Lemonade, These Days, and The Ghetto Flower.
