Rax Interview On On Tha Rize

  • You’re from the outskirts of ATL — how did it feel coming up in such an entertainment-based vicinity?

I believe that it played a huge role in my interest in the arts. So many entertainers and entrepreneurs found their success here, so it felt right to pursue my current passions, because I’ve been given the blueprint to success by watching the greats do what they do.

  • Who influenced you, musically? I believe that both of my parents played a role in my appreciation for all forms of music. I can listen to classical music just as much as I can listen to R&B. I have been exposed to a very diverse range of music forms in my life.

With your recent single “Body” ft. KDDO, explain your creative process in paying homage to Afrobeats in this new track alongside the melodic R&B undertones: So the interesting part about it is that I did not go to the studio with the expectation of recording the record. I had another beat in mind, but after hearing the hook with the beat of Body, I gravitated towards it, and that ended up being the record that was fully recorded.

The Rize Of Rax

  • How did that collaboration come about? So, one of my business mentors, who is well-versed in music, actually connected me to KDDO and said that he was someone that was a great guy to connect with in the industry and had a lot of success in this space.

What are a few things you’ve learned so far this year when it comes to being an independent artist? Things take time and you can only control what you can control. I am very used to fast success so when I have run into roadblocks, I’ve had to realize that that is ok, and that I will still reach my goals in good timing. Winning in music is about who you know. Your career can turn out very differently by just knowing the right people. In addition to those, I would say, make music that feels right to you, Early on, I tried to listen to what other people said I should do, but I was never satisfied because it did not feel like me. True authenticity is the answer.

Could you see yourself in other sectors of entertainment as well?

Absolutely! I plan to do television shows and movies.

  • Your career officially began just early on this year. Since then, you’ve released a few singles, mainly collaborations. Do you have a body of work coming any time soon where fans can hear more solo content?

Yes, I just released a new record on YouTube exclusively, called “ I Know”. I have more in the vault that are on the way!

  • What is the most memorable moment you’ve had thus far on your journey?

Honestly, I think the most memorable moments happen during the creative process in the studio. I love music and it makes me happy. That feeling is sometimes difficult when life is challenging, but music does it for me.

What’s Next?

  • If you could plan it out, how would the next 5 years look for your and your music?

I plan to have multiple Grammys as well as at least 25 platinum records.
