Nilla Allin, a native of Los Angeles and a resident of View Park, California, shows off her musical variety in “Nilla’s Diary,” her sophomore LP released on February 10th. Each song was inspired by “actual life circumstances that Nilla Allin encountered and was based on a genuine diary entry from her old college notebooks. Nilla Allin’s diary-style EP is extremely approachable and develops a particular link between her and her listeners. Her work’s sensitivity and realism have earned her a rapidly rising and devoted following. She had over one million streams after only a year of making songs.
Nilla Allin’s “Letter To My Ex BF” is written from the perspective of a concerned best friend. The tune is a standout on the EP because of this feeling, as well as her remarkable lyricism and musical skills.
“You ain’t been a good friend/ Cuz you’re too busy chasing that man,” a lyric that eloquently captures the distance felt when a close friend becomes engrossed haven a romance and disappears.
