New Video: Pastel Papi – “Tweakin”
South Central LA’s Pastel Papi finally dropped the long-awaited visual for his single “Tweakin.” Pastel Papi, who goes by @icreateshit on Instagram, portrays a new side of him that audiences have yet to see. His latest visual showcases his film side, proving how Pastel Papi is not only an artist, but a creative who is full of bright ideas.
The song is about someone who has found it impossible for him or her to love someone else. The visual for “Tweakin” was shot beautifully and artistically, accompanying the lyrics to the song well.
Pastel Papi, who’s real name is Davon Lavor, is a a multi-faceted musician who grew up in deep South Central, between wealthy and poorer neighborhoods. He often traveled in and out of his neighborhood which gave him “perspective” and “early exposure to a variety of lifestyles and sounds.”
If audiences visit his Instagram page, they will see that it is a colorful collage of everything from working on the visual for Juice Wrld’s “Black & White” to attending Black Lives Matter rally with his parents.
His diverse upbringing manifested itself in his artistic life, which began in the world of film. However, it wasn’t until late 2017 that Lavor started to take music more seriously. Music’s ability to curate people’s emotions attracted him to the art form, as much as he loved–and still loves–film.
“Sound is just so beautiful, like if to me just the sound in general is crazy. I like making noise and expressing myself through the noise … Making people feel something through the music inspires me,” Lavor explained.
