Out-of-the box conscious rapper, Malik Rose continues to bring the balance that’s needed in Hip-Hop. The indie lyricist is reminiscent of his musical influences: J. Cole, Nas, and Kanye West. Today(October 8th), he returns with his newest offering titled “Long Time Ago” featuring ICECOLDBISHOP.
The Louisiana spitter spits hard-hitting bars laid over a hypnotizing beat that’ll loop in your head. Next, ICECOLDBISHOP follows Malik’s flow with his high-energy sound bringing more heat to the fire.
Additionally, he raps in a more menacing tone to highlight his early struggles from a long time ago over the sinister-sounding soundscape. Built around another bass-heavy, pounding beat, the track is familiar yet fun. As far as flex raps go, it’s not as animated or transcendently brazen as his previous releases but it cuts harder.
Malik Rose remains a titan of flexing and motivation, but now that he’s made it, money isn’t the motive; it’s just the means.
