Throughout the history of Hip-Hop, artists have continuously taken time out in their songs to shower their mothers with adoration, and with good reason. Songs like, “Hey Mama,” from Kanye West and, “Dear Mama,” by Tupac have showed the range in which those emotions are felt and displayed, as they stand out as two of the most notable examples. Hailing from Las Vegas, rising rapper 88n8 understands their motivations perfectly, as his mother has served as guiding light throughout his career and life as a whole. Looking to honor her in the right way, he checks into our pages with his new EP, On My Momma.

Clocking in at 25-minutes, On My Momma, is a highly reflective project that finds 88n8 pondering over a host of different thoughts that have obviously been on his mind. Kicking the project off with the eponymous tribute to his mother, he quickly sets the tone for the mood will be for most of the 7-track project. While the intro is painted as a poignant tribute to his loved ones, the rest of the project finds him turning the lens on other parts of his life as well. Records like, “Endless (Therapy),” and, “All On The Line,” embody that self-reflection while he rounds out the project with more accessible songs like, “I Got It 4U,” and, “Gotham.” Serving as the standout record of the project, “Gotham,” finds the Vegas native putting everything together and delivering one of his best performances to date.

Take a listen to the project below and get familiar with 88n8.
