People frequently hear the advice “follow your dreams,” which is generally given in a positive and motivating tone. However, it is easier said than done to follow one’s aspirations. Sometimes the path isn’t all rainbows and butterflies. It may be a difficult road fraught with self-doubt and setbacks. Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero, a soulful pair, experienced the latter while pursuing their musical goals. But they persevered, and now they’re delighted to introduce their second collaboration, So Far So Good.
Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero began their careers as musicians in 2015 and 2014, respectively. They were both in college, studying for a degree that had nothing to do with music when they chose to pursue music instead. After watching a close friend’s clothing business became successful, Jimmie made the decision. “I watched all the hard work he put in and the rewards that followed,” he recounted. It also encouraged me to explore music, something I had a strong interest in. Because I was afraid, I had passed up previous possibilities. I didn’t want music to be one of my life’s regrets.”
For Zach The Hero, a fateful music class paved the way for his music career. “All the classes were full, so the only class I could register for was Piano 1,” the artist explained, “Music just sort of found me, or as I like to say, we found each other. Once I discovered that you could make a career in music, I changed my major the very next day from Computer Engineering to Music Education.”
Both Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero embarked on their artistic journeys on their own. They ultimately reunited and released The Ark, their first collaboration, in 2019. This effort was well-received by new listeners and admirers, which is why the pair is looking forward to their newest collaboration, So Far So Good.
“Our sound is described as soulful trap music.” “Our sound has changed as we mature as musicians,” Jimmie Bishop said of their musical approach, “and it’s a fantastic combination of my soul samples aWe describe our sound as soulful trap music. It’s a good mix of my soul samples and Zach’s trap drums and bounce,” Jimmie Bishop said of their musical style, “And as we grow as artists, our sound has evolved. Of course, we still keep that soulful trap feel, but we’re elevating it by experimenting, adding more live instruments, and incorporating other styles like R&B or alternative.”
Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero teamed on their second effort, So Far So Good. So Far So Good is a more optimistic album than their last endeavor, The Ark, which had songs that talked of grief and hatred. “For me, this latest effort is a celebration of how far we’ve gone in our careers,” Zach explained. We both began recording in our garages with no prior expertise. And now we’re both full-time musicians. We produce, record, mix, and master everything we do, and we make high-quality music. Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but so far, things are looking up!”
“So Far So Good was written from a place of happiness and contentment,” Jimmie Bishop added, “This project is all about elevation. We appreciate where we are now, but we understand that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and our work is only beginning.”
In April, Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero will release the deluxe edition of So Far So Good, and the soulful pair believes that their newest record will pave the way for a successful career in 2022 and beyond.
