Jay Loud talks “Ice Cream Man” record, upcoming project and more

Emerging Indianapolis bred artist Jay Loud is climbing up the ranks and capturing people’s attention. Currently residing in Seattle, he experienced a rough patch in the beginning, even being homeless for a short period of time, but that did not detour him. He ended up getting the opportunity to link up with musical frontrunner Taj King and from then, it was up.

Now, he is signed to record label EMPIRE and recently released his Elevator premiered visual for “Ice Cream Man,” that’s set to be on his upcoming project dropping next month. He displays his creativity on the record and the must-see visual, paying homage to the scene from Friday where Smokey and Big Worm talk business at the ice cream truck.

Get to know a little more about Jay Loud below.

RizeMag: Who are some of your biggest inspirations, and how have they inspired you?

Jay: My biggest inspirations were Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings , Chris Brown, Jeremih, and Bryson Tiller. Each of them just have a certain sound that sticks with the mind and soul.

RizeMag: How have some of the struggles and things you have been through shaped you into the artist you are today?

Jay: My struggle was nonstop, so I had to learn to buckle down and push through. The only way I could do it was through music and my talents–writing, rapping, and singing. It’s still my main go-to outlet.

RizeMag: What was the creative direction for your song and visual “Ice Cream Man,” and did you expect the song to do the numbers it’s doing currently?

Jay: Honestly, it all started with the infectious beat. I was feeling the beat and just started coming up with melodies. I had gotten a few pointers and just started going crazy. For the video, since the subject was about ice cream, I wanted to pair it with the perfect skit–that being the scene with Smokey and Big Worm at his truck in the cult-classic Friday–so it could grab people’s attention. And, that’s exactly what happened.

RizeMag: Can you share with us a little about your upcoming project and when we can expect the release?

Jay: It’s definitely something to look forward to. I’m bringing a bunch of different vibes for different people. I just want people to hear me and feel like they can relate to a specific matter or just in general. We’re gearing up to release my 16-track project on October 11th, via all platforms.

RizeMag: What is one thing you want people to know about you that they may not know?

Jay: I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.

RizeMag: Besides the release of your project, what is next for you?

Jay: I’m planning to move to LA to grow my network–connect with new and current listeners; other creatives; and tastemakers. I’m also planning to go on tour by the beginning of 2020.
