J. Hoard Shines In New Single “Devil Is A Liar”

J. Hoard’s music interweaves genres to articulate his vivid songwriting. Hoard has worked closely with a host of jazz-experimental artists such as Jose James, Endea Owens and the legendary Meshell Ndegeocello – J. is a singer on her 2019 Grammy-nominated Ventriloquism album. Speaking further on how he created the track, J. Hoard says, “This loop resulted from the many (virtual) conversations I had with a group of musicians in May 2020. We were asking: when and how do we speak up as artists in an ever-changing, ever-weirding industry? I concluded the devil is a liar. Then, and now, ‘devil’ refers to anything that harms one’s sense of place, sense of belonging and sense of self. The main antidote is to find peace of mind – find one’s centre.”
