“My EP is called ‘Soul Shift,’ — meaning it’s me shifting the sound of what we call R&B today,” he said. “Just really getting that sound back of why people fell in love with Rhythm and Blues, this is just the warm up.”
From an early age, music has been a part of ImSoMaleek’s life. He has the musical history that speaks to everything he does, having toured with Kenny Rogers when he was just seven years old and performed the part of Simba on Broadway with the Lion King. With Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke, Queen, Usher, Tyrese, Tank, Musiq Soulchild, and Pharrell as influences, it’s no surprise that his songs have that elegant, silky-smooth feel that he adores.
In a recent interview, ImSoMaleek says that his two daughters are the inspiration behind why he makes music.
“Music is honestly my therapy, and when I had my 2 daughters they became the reason and the inspiration to everything,” he said.
Now, he’s on a mission to make people fall back in love with rhythm and blues, by tracing it back to its original roots.
ImSoMaleek has proclaimed his presence as an artist at the top of his game, migrating between Hip-Hop, Soul, and Jazz, bathed in delectable rhythms that wrap you in a liquid and easy vocal embrace.
