Houston Rapper Docman Checks in With His Introspective New Single, “Legends Always Die”

Over the last few years, we’ve seen more than a handful of bonafide legends pass away. In Hip-Hop alone, 2021 saw the passings of DMX, Biz Markie, Virgil Abloh and many, many more. The thing about when people like that die, though, is that they leave behind a wide body of work that can make them feel like they’re still here, at least spiritually, but sttill, it hurts to lose those we hold consider legends. Hailing from Houston, rising rapper Docman has noted this notion, and he pays tribute to our angels with his engaging new single, “Legends Always Die.

Buoyed by eerie production that relies on quick-trigger drum breaks and a steady stream of creepy sounds that help punctuate the feeling, the anxious vibes perfectly set the table for Docman. Showcasing a stout pen, he rhymes about rolling through the city with something on his lap, feeling his own demise in the shadows as he tries to live his life the right way. Though the subject matter is somber, Doc’s vocal tone is mainly upbeat throughout the song, creating a sense of confidence instead of fear, which ends up being a result of him realizing his legacy is here to stay regardless if he is or not.

Be sure to take a listen to the single below and get familiar with Docman, who’s new album Chapter 29 is slated to be released on June 1st.
