Hailing From Las Vegas, Buzzing Vocalist, DejaNay Drops Off Her Soulful New Visuals
For many artists, the idea of synch licensing sounds just as foreign as another language. Despite this, the ones that care to educate themselves usually do, and eventually the smart ones become hip. Very rarely, does an artist come into the game with that understanding and introduction. For Las Vegas singer, DejaNay, that was her exact route, landing placements on popular shows like Insecure and Hustle In Brooklyn and providing her with enough of a buzz to launch. Expanding on that motion, she releases her new video for, “Screwed Up”.
Directed by Andres Bolivar, the video for the song is rooted in spirituality, with the most notable shots following Deja through the woods and the cabin, respectively, the latter of which includes a brilliantly strange shot of Deja burning sage and staring at the camera.
As for the record, it’s not hard to see why she was included in such shows. Her sound is authentic, soulful and raw. While she’s shown potential, no doubt, it’s easy to see the areas she can improve in, but there the same woes that any up and coming vocalist has. With a bit of direction and time, it won’t surprise me to see Deja pulling more placements.
