Get To Know LA’s Multi-Talented Rising Star, Steven G

From last year till now, Crenshaw District singer, rapper, and songwriter Steven G has leveled up and continues to prove why he is a star and why he will continue to make noise on the West Coast and beyond. You’ve probably had his most streamed record “Hotline Remix” on repeat or heard the car next to you bumping it.

His success continued with the release of ShowGreat 2 in late October of last year, which caught the attention of ArtClub International, a boutique record label that serves as the home for Grammy-nominated multi-platinum artist Jhene Aiko. Standout cuts include “Backboard” “Freak It” and “Remedy & Potion.”

People probably thought he would settle down after that, well guess what – he’s just getting started. Continuing to expand his loyal fan base, along side EMPIRE label mate Azjah and others, they went on a mini school tour across LA performing some of their biggest hits.

Today, Steven G released the third installment of his ShowGreat series – ShowGreat 3. Lead single “Super Villian” brought much anticipation for the release of the project. The 8-track body of work highlights Steven’s signature Sing-Rap combination.

RizeMag: For those who don’t know, who is Steven G and what are 3 words you would say describe who you are?

Steven: I’m a Los Angeles Native from the Crenshaw District to be exact. 3 words to describe me ummmm Humble, Observant, Patient.

RizeMag: What’s a typical day like in the life of Steven G?

Steven: A typical day for me is taking my daughter to school, hit the gym, grab some food and head straight to the studio.

RizeMag: How long have you been recording music and who or what is your biggest influence?

Steven: I’ve been doing music since 2016.

My biggest influence is my daughter. She inspires me to to keep pushing. My biggest music influence was and is Nipsey Hussle. He put on for my section, and gave back to my people without letting the industry change him. Long Live Nip.

RizeMag: What would you say you bring to the table that separates you from other artists?

Steven: I think I bring a different element to the game being that I Sing, Rap and write my own music. I have my own sound, and I stay in my own lane.

RizeMag: When your in the studio, what helps you get in your zone before you begin recording music?

Steven: Honestly, I don’t smoke and it’s very rare that I drink. Once that beat comes on melodies just start flowing. After that I just go in the booth and start recording. No pen, no pad.

RizeMag: Was signing with ArtClub International and EMPIRE record label an easy decision for you or did you give it a lot of thought ?

Steven: Ummm yeah I’m mean now a days you have to give everything some thought, but Tre shared my vision. Creative control was important to me and ArtClub let’s me do my thing. No complaints.

RizeMag: Showgreat 2 was successful and gained a lot of attention, do you feel Showgreat 3 will have just as much as an impact and what was the process like working on the project ?

Steven: I think ShowGreat 3 is my best work so far. You’ll be able to hear the growth in production and what I’m talking about. I think my fans are gonna love it. The process on this project was really simple. This time around I locked in with my go to producers (15HunnitBoy & J Classic). And we made nothing but magic. Also, worked with Grammy Nominated producer/song writer Micah Powell

RizeMag: The West Coast is hot right now, who are some of your favorite artists right now? If Any.

Steven: Much respect to BlueFace, he’s doing his thing right now. Much respect to everyone doing their thing though.

RizeMag: As far as collaborations, who would you like to work with ?

Steven: Ummmm Ty $ is dope, of course Drake, DaBaby & Jhene Aiko. I wanna work with anyone who wanna work. Let’s get it.

RizeMag: What advice would you give to up and coming artists ?

Steven: Don’t give up. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.

RizeMag: Any specific goals you want to accomplish this year going into next ?

Steven: This year I just want my music to touch people who’ve never heard of me before. I’m looking forward to being on stage and touch my fans all over the world. SHOWGREAT!!!
