Get Familiar With Eriel Indigo & Her Socially Aware New Single, “Wasted”

For most women, making it in the entertainment industry is hardly ever based solely on talent. Openly, executives will bypass talent levels in order to promote women they feel adhere to certain beauty standards, while behind closed doors, more sinister practices have been known to go down. Hailing from Southern California, Eriel Indigo checks into our pages to discuss the latter situations on her poignant new single, “Wasted.”

Produced by Kevn Blvk, “Wasted,” is a poignant, calculated record that finds Eriel speaking on the trials and tribulations of being a woman in music. Speaking at times from the perspective of the man attempting to make her exchange sexual favors for success, one of the more intriguing lyrics on the single comes at the end of each chorus. “Oh you think you can make a hit? Is your pu**y worth what I’ll pay the radio to play it?” croons Indigo, aggressively making her point and bringing a haunting situation to light. While most of the song sees her trying to navigate her way around this, by the end of the record, she finds the strength to put her foot down and proclaim that she would rather do things her way.

In all, “Wasted,” serves as a potentially important record that can help give a voice to the voiceless. With her upcoming album, Angels & Aliens slated to release sometime in the near future, now would be the perfect time for you to get familiar with Eriel Indigo.
