Female Emcees To Watch In 2019
I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed seeing and experiencing Los Angeles turn into a hot bed with endless amounts of talent from artists who showed their versatility and drive to reach to the stars. Each week it was something new that had the city buzzing, whether it was hard hitting hyphy bangers or true West Coast heat, this year goes down in the books.
With that being said, let’s look back to some of our favorite artists, projects, etc. Female emcees don’t get enough credit in this game but don’t worry we have that covered.
Nas B
Nas B aka Tha Goat is a newcomer on the block but please don’t let that fool you. She dropped her first official single “Chanel” back in August and from the first listen I knew she was going to be a star.
Her confidence and energy is over the top and believe me all eyes will be on her when she walks into the room. Not to mention she has a mean flow and a mixtape “YKWTFGO” that will have you smashing the repeat button. Big things are coming in 2019 so watch out.
TiffCo
TiffCo is probably the most underrated on this list. The Crenshaw district emcee has been busy all 2018. You can feel her lyrics when she spits on real life issues and things we face everyday.
She tells her story through her music and even got a cosign from rapper DaveEast. Her music is inspiring and we can’t wait to see what she has in store next year.
Wray
It’s early in Wray’s career but she’s a vet when she hops on any beat. She has a couple freestyles and singles under her belt, and with each release she comes harder and always shows off her gritty flow over heavy hitting production.
She takes over on tracks always providing some hits for the streets to enjoy and 2019 is going to be successful for the Los Angeles emcee.
Lauryn B
Lauryn B is coming for everybody’s neck next year. This year was just a taste of what she has to offer, especially on her debut project No Cap. She can do a little bit of everything.
She showed off her versatile sound and range. She’s different in her own way and that will take her to the next level.
Cocc Pistol Cree
The numbers speak for themselves when it comes down to the type of year Cocc Pistol Cree has had. She has worked with some of the hottest artists in the game and continues to dominant. She’s been killing the underground scene for awhile now but yet still doesn’t get the credit she deserves.
She’ll turn you up sometimes and then others slow it down to really catch her vibe. She’s not stopping anytime soon. She understands what it takes to be successful. It’s just a matter of time before she really takes off and we’ll be watching.
Vonnie D
Putting on for her city Long Beach, Vonnie D has been creating hits all 2018. She’s sitting at the top in her own lane and it’s no one even close that compares to her talent. Her melodic flow and raw lyrics come together to bring us music the streets love.
Songs like “War” is a representation of her city, always speaking on real facts and getting to the money. Paired with a couple successful loose singles, videos and her Thoughts in the Norf EP, prepare yourself for an even bigger year from Vonnie.
Yoshi Vintage
Yoshi Vintage is the most versatile artist on our list. She ended the year with her album “48458” which I would consider Best Album of the Year. Her flow was amazing, her lyrics and wordplay was over the top, and the production fit perfect with her style. She made sure this album was nothing but perfect. She’s not following trends, she’s doing her own thing and you should have her music on your playlist.
She expresses all the things she has been through in such a beautiful way and you’ll feel inspired and hopefully next year she’ll be on the charts and keep the momentum going.
AshBash
AshBash made our #UpAndComing10 Part1: Who Should Be On Your Radar list back in July but she deserves to be on this list as well. “Red Homies” has created a major buzz around the city already at over 300k views on Youtube.
She has a cold flow and she really’s with the sh*ts. No major promotion, no cosigns, she’s the hottest female in the city. If you think this year was crazy, just wait for 2019.
Allie Kay
Allie Kay made a strong return in 2018, she really f*cked some sh*t up. She immediately came firing shots on her Del Amo EP. “Hol’ up these bitches really be mad cus i’m back on the scene” was just one of the quotable bars on the intro.
Along side her bossy lyrics was dope visuals just so you could see she backs up what she says. She’s representing for the boss women out there and she’s probably in the studio cooking up more heat to take over 2019.
AzJah
Azjah isn’t far from breaking into the mainstream market. The Princess of Compton has carved out her own lane and has the whole city behind her. Hit song after hit, she just keeps them coming.
She’s hungry, motivated, and determined to the next female artist to make it. “Time for It” and “Spotlight” are her two most recents track that build on that momentum. You want something you have to go for it, Azjah is going for hers and you need to tune in.
