Check in With Orlando Native Congratulationskyler & His Impressive New EP, ‘We Here For a Good Time Not a Long Time’

One of the most popular phrases among people looking to take risks and do things they might not normally do is, “Life’s short.” While some may use that as an excuse to make bad decisions, many people instead tell themselves that as to help shake the nerves that may accompany making a big decision or trying to do something you haven’t done before. Hailing from Orlando, rising rapper Congratulationskyler firmly falls in the latter category, and he proves it on his surprise new EP, We Here For a Good Time Not a Long Time.

At 3-songs, the 6-minute EP finds Skyler showcasing a few of his many talents on display throughout the quick run time. While all three records mainly focus on the same things, the EP’s true purpose is highlighting how different those songs all sound in spite of the similar topics on each record. On, “STR82CHURCH,” he goes for the more straightforward sound of utilizing his natural vocals over towering synths and hard hitting drum breaks, while on, “SO ICY BABEE,” he creates a hectic sound that is confusing at first, but becomes crystal clear about 30-seconds into the first verse. The star of the show on this project, though, is, “THATS THAT.” Produced by Antonio West, the duo’s infectious chemistry carries them throughout the song, as Skyler easily skates over the bubbly production, shifting through cadences at a breakneck speed.
