Although Valentine’s Day might indeed be a scam from corporate America to punk sappy boyfriends across the country to spend more money than they need too, but at the same time, it’s Valentine’s Day. As Much as we may complain about it, it’s a necessary evil that we also enjoy at times, even if we don’t want to admit it. Hailing from Boston, rising artist Manny Omega understands this notion perfectly, as he caters to the women with his engaging new 2-pack, Fly Times.
Clocking in at 6-minutes in total, Fly Times is a breezy, straight forward EP that shows Manny Omega establishing his sound over the sensual production. Produced by 905BEATZ, “Vices,” is a well-written, relatable record that finds the Boston native infectiously diving into his less redeemable qualities, completely embracing that dark side of himself and the women he’s speaking too. While this record feels like a late night drive after some extracurricular activities, the second song, “One of One,” provides a different, yet complimentary flavor. Produced by MBWAV, “One of One,” is set up perfectly for Omega, as his vocals blend in perfectly with the southern drum patterns and soul samples. On this one, he opts to be a bit more romantic, evoking lyrics like, “I can’t get enough, like smokers need their nicotine,” juxtaposing a different side than he showed on the, “Vices.”
In all, Fly Times does a brilliant job of showcasing multiple sides of the Boston crooner. Take a listen to the pack below and get familiar with Manny Omega.
