Behind the scenes with hip hop film director Roger Alexander of AlphaMale Visuals
Since high school, Roger Alexander has been interested in singing mixtapes and developing skits for various college events. His involvement in these skits helped Roger realize his talent in filmmaking. However, after graduating from college, he took the safer route and devoted himself to a corporate job. While this job ensured a stable paycheck every month, Roger quickly realized that he wouldn’t be able to pursue his dreams in corporate America.
This realization motivated Roger to start his filmmaking company in 2010 called “AlphaMale Visuals.” He spent the weekdays in the corporate job to support this venture. After working on this project for a few years, Roger took a leap of faith, and slowly but surely, it took off to become one of the most recognized production companies in the industry.
The extensive list of accomplishments over Roger’s career attests to his work ethic and dedication to pursuing his passion. Over the 11 years, Roger won several awards and directed music videos for some of the most legendary artists like 2 Chainz and Gucci Mane. Without any formal training or handouts in the industry, this esteemed director accomplished more than most filmmakers take a lifetime to achieve.
His vision with AlphaMale Visuals is to create a company that produces hip-hop-centered stories each year. Roger aspires to find the perfect balance between hip-hop and the film world. This unique approach has yielded some phenomenal results. He is currently working on several projects broadcasted on national television this year.
