Topp – 333 (playlist project)
The Tri-Cities Golden Boy has done it again with this emotional new 3pc he dropped as a gift for us on his birthday. I can promise you one thing, and it’s that Topp’s sound is all his own. His various voice alterations play at his character. The project is self-produced with a little help from some friends and family.
The first song features a good friend of mine, and his sister, Yel. The song is called Hopped Outta Heaven, and the beat sounds just like that. Prettiest Star has a rhythmic guitar ballad courtesy of some collaboration and We All Say is an all around group effort. There is no doubt in my mind, this is what real love sounds like. I got to speak with Topp about how 333 came together so beautifully and here’s what he had to share.
“I got the urge to drop 333 because I kept seeing it everywhere. I produced every track myself but had a little help from my bro Rejae on ‘Hopped Outta Heaven.’ My bro Parker did the synth solo at the end of Prettiest Star & I had my homeboy play guitar through the whole song as a one-take. As for the third song, I didn’t know what to choose and nothing was sounding right; then I saw that ‘We All Say’ song name my library. This was a song I was sitting on for almost a year. I realized the total time of the song was 3:33, so I felt like it was destiny.”
According to him, things got clearer when he realized he was turning 23 soon. “My birthday was the 3rd day of Capricorn season, on the 25th. (5-2=3) it was in December, the 12th month. (1+2=3) I’m the 3rd sibling on my moms side, I’m from Tri-Cities and there’s 3 birth stones in December. There’s only 2 months that have 3 birthstones.” That does seem like destiny, or is it the power of the Law of Attraction?
You can listen to 333 on all streaming platforms right now.
