Despite the fact that Hip-Hop is currently been over-ran by auto-tuned demons and melodic monsters, real, thoughtful music is on it’s way back to the forefront. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean you Boom-Bap artists, cause it doesn’t. It’s a beam of hope for those making substantial art that has a purpose other than generating royalties, whatever that purpose maybe. One of those artists happens to be Lexington native, Qwest Shimar, who checks in with his new video for, “Higher Frequencies.”

Shot by PB Visuals, “Higher Frequencies” carries a low-key vibe that showcases it’s charm very subtly. Calmly following Qwest as he moves through the city and speaks his mind, the director does a great job of keeping the shots raw, which help highlight some of the similar qualities in the song. Hopefully these two can work together again in the future, because the potential is there.

Take a peek at the video below and get familiar with Qwest Shimar.
