Yoshi Vintage’s album was two years in the making, and it was definitely worth the wait. I’ve listened to a lot of music this year, this is by far the most complete project and in conversation for best album of the year. “48458” is not only a self reflection masterpiece but Yoshi shows perseverance. Despite what people said, she followed her dreams and she knew music was her passion and she never gave up no matter what obstacles were in the way.
The seventeen-track offering may take awhile to soak in and you may miss some noteworthy lyrics the first go round, but once you can catch a breath and tune in a couple more times, you’ll fall in love with the rhythm, the up-tempo production and the uplifting wordplay. On many tracks, either before the song drops or towards the end Yoshi will speak on the good and the bad on her journey.
Each track flows to the next and each track symbolized something different but one thing the Michigan native is herself, what a perfect way to end the year. She’s looking to build her legacy and we look forward to seeing what else is in store.
