Over the last 5-years, Hip-Hop has started to deviate a bit from the traditions of how an artist was discovered. The days of stashing an artist and developing them were quickly fading, leading into the era of artists doing this for themselves, and at the same time demanding more for their finished products than before. One of those artists is rising emcee 2-6 Biggz, who’s sheer output along with his ability to reach different fanbases through exciting features and production. Looking to keep his momentum going, he checks into our pages with his new EP, Family as Fuck.
Clocking in at almost 4-minutes, Family as Fuck is an engaging 2-track EP that finds Biggz confidently gliding over the tailor-made production. On the EP’s title track, we find him going back and forth with New Orleans staple, Curren$y, as the duo trade lines and cadences over the laid back production from Ceez Neckmusik. Setting as the 2-pack’s intro as well as title track, “Family as Fuck,” does a brilliant job of showcasing Biggz’s ability to gather chemistry with a legend. On, “Real Nigga on 3,” conversely, he ditches the idea of a guest verse, instead opting to allow backpack rap legend Chuck Inglish to handle the production while he takes care of the vocals. The result is an energetic, high-octane record that does a great job highlighting Biggz’s versatility while keeping true to The Cool Kids’ sound.
