Gusto and Zayzayy team up to deliver visual for “Frozen Heart”
Gusto, also known as Gus Edward, is a former Baltimore Ravens running back who is now a rapper. With tracks like “No Average,” featuring Rah Swish, “New Drop,” and “Pray for Me,” Gusto has demonstrated his flexibility and proficiency as an artist. Gusto has returned with a new offering called “Frozen Heart,” ft. Zayzayy.
“The song is about how different life experiences can make your heart turn cold,” Gusto says. “Betrayal, losing love, death, all the things we go through that can change you/us in ways for the worse.”
Gusto’s cadence is mesmerizing, as you become lost in his cadence, juxtaposing the laid-back tone with lyrics about keeping it genuine, not letting money change who he is as a person, and overall loss, both from death and now having money, the latter being the impetus for a lot of the so-called “change.” “All this money gave me scares, I done lost pals,” Zayzayy acknowledges signing, as the duo exchange words about avoiding becoming connected with friends and money, as seen by the issues they’ve both faced, and why they need to maintain a “Frozen Heart” approach today.
Gusto and Zayzayy rap on the trials and hardships of being an artist and making it big, acknowledging the ebbs and flows that come with money and fame. As shown in the video for “Frozen Heart,” the song is the perfect anthem for sticking in your zone and allowing your success speak for itself. Gusto and Zayzayy cash out at shuttered businesses, demonstrating a lavish lifestyle.
The video is a must-see since it perfectly captures the song and reveals a different side to Gusto, as it includes clips of Gusto playing as a running back with the Baltimore Ravens. “It ain’t my fault you called me wall ballin’,” he says, contrasting pictures of him now and insisting he is still the same person he was before the money and contracts. “Frozen Heart” is one of the greatest graphics of 2022 thus far, illustrating the impact football, or money, has had on some of his relationships.
With such a release, we’re excited to see what Gusto and Zayzayy have in store for us, since the two are said to be working on a joint effort.
“I’m collaborating with Zay on a project.” We’ll have additional details about the release date in the near future. “Be on the lookout.”
Keep up with Gusto on Instagram @godsgiftgus13 and Twitter @GodsGiftGus13 since he’s working on a collaborative project with Zayzayy, so stay tuned.
