Rising Ohio Vocalist D. Watkins Checks in With His Engaging New Project, ‘Vibe’

When it comes to music, the artists that grew up learning how to play music, officially, have always had the upper hand. While one-hit-wonders and of-the-moment artists may be able to survive on superficial qualities, the ones who really honed their craft are who become the legends. Hailing from Cincinnati, rising vocalist D. Watkins is hoping to be apart of the latter group, as he’s been working on his dream since he was a child. Looking to bring together knowledge and natural skill, the Ohio native checks in with his engaging new project, Vibe.

Kicking in at 8 tracks, Vibe is a diverse collection of tracks that finds Watkins showcasing his versatility on full display. Utilizing tailor-fit production, he highlights his knack for relatable songwriting with songs like, “Slow Wine,” and “Nowadays.” The former finds Watkins getting a bit more groovy while the latter focuses on those memories of that special someone who you let slip away, something that almost everybody can empathize with. While the project is at it’s best when the scope is directed towards emotions, one of the other standouts on the project is, “Get Ya Roll,” a get-money anthem that was created specifically to motivate you to get up and get it.
