Get Familiar With Gameboy Jones & His Infectious New Ode to Anime, “Tsunade”
Growing up in the early 2000s, liking Anime and Hip-Hop were almost seen as two conflicting interests, with the former more associated with, “nerds” while the latter had the pleasure of being affiliated with, “gang culture.” Eventually, people got their heads straight and found that the two sides offered one another great inspiration, resulting in some amazing artists and projects to debut in the last 15-or-so years. Looking to establish himself in that pantheon, rising rapper Gameboy Jones has been aggressively carrying the torch for years, as he checks into our pages with his infectious new ode to anime with, “Tsunade.”
Recruiting like-minded artists such as Ham Sandwich, Mir Blackwell and Cilvanis for the ride, “Tsunade,” serves as a creative tribute to the Naruto character of the same name. Taking advantage of colorful production from PRODSUPREME, the trio showcase an obvious chemistry, with Gameboy Jones serving as the anchor and conductor by handling the final verse and hook duties, respectively. Trading quirky lines like, “Met a tall lady, mounted her like a tv,” and, “Wet like Katara, she put her body on mine like Potara,” the trio do a wonderful job of utilizing the essence of the engaging production to showcase their infectious abilities.
In all, the quick-witted posse cut is fun and engaging while also showcasing the progress made by Gameboy Jones. While he’s still doing tributes to his favorite Anime characters, the songs have the potential to serve as so much more. Take a listen to the single below and get familiar with Gameboy Jones.
