BeeDotKay, a Chicago musician, viewed this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to focus on his craft with no interruptions, and the result is his newest track “In A Minute,” which features fellow Chicago native Rockie Fresh.
“I wrote this song back in April,” BeeDotKay expressed in a recent interview. “I felt like the pandemic was wrapping up and my soul was ready to get back outside to do stuff and see people. On top of that, I’m in such a stronger, more confident place in life; as a man, artist, teacher, father, all around. When I went into the pandemic, I felt like this was a once-in a lifetime opportunity to rewrite my life and really hone in on the things I felt like I was losing time for. So I spent the whole pandemic leveling up in every way thinkable.
“I was restoring my mental and spirit, I bought an income property, I made the best music of my career in those 13 months, like was seriously grinding my ass off, and now it’s time to show the people what I’ve been up to,” he continued. “This song captures the energy of someone who coming back to the scene after the glow up. That’s where I am in life, I went through hell and came back out the other side a better man. It’s time to put rubber to the road.”
BeeDotKay spends the three-minute track reflecting on what he’s been up to during the lockdown, and how, while it’s been a long time, he’s ready to get back to what he knows and loves best, and that the wait will be well worth it, as he raps: “It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t have left you, without no cold s**t for you to flex to.”

This is surely something listeners can identify to as the country continues to open up to how it was pre-pandemic, as everyone is now being given the opportunity to display how they have all altered since last year. BeeDotKay does this mostly through his artistic abilities.
“My love for music, and its ability to reach, console, entertain, energize and teach people drives me each and every day,” he shared when asked what makes him so passionate about music. “I want to give folks the same kinds of feels I’ve gotten from artists I love throughout my life.
With everyone being physically separated for such a long time this year, he has a unique viewpoint on how to bring people back together, adding that “music is global, it links individuals who would otherwise be unconnected.”
