Independent Artist Tok Showcases Skills On Latest Track “Vision”

On his new track “Vision,” Tok has a message for the skeptics and non-believers.

Tok’s latest song, “Vision,” borrows Snoh Aalegrah’s “Here Now” and is about how people don’t believe in your aspirations and ambitions until you achieve them. Regardless of others’ doubts, “Vision” is aimed to inspire everyone to never give up on what or who they want to be in life “despite the hard times and doubters in your ear.”

Tok is a Philadelphia native and discovered a career path in music for himself when he dropped out of college to pursue music full-time. “I wasn’t having the best time there but music was something I started writing everyday because it really started from journaling,” he admitted in a recent interview. “Once I dropped out after completing my first year I moved to LA at 18 to pursue music.”

Some of his goals in the near future include having a platinum record. “I used to want nothing more than to win a Grammy, but at this point, to me it’s like if it happens it happens,” he said. “And I want to work with all the artist/writers/producers that inspire me and that I’ve admired over the years.” 

Despite the naysayers, the Atlanta-based emcee’s faith in himself paid off, as he now has career highs such as opening for Jahlil Beats and Rick Ross. While he recognizes his progress in music, he also recognizes that not everyone he knows will be happy for him, as he raps on “Vision” about the haters who act as if his success was by chance but weren’t there for the times he was “sleeping on couches” and grinding to get to this point in his career.

When asked about what he hopes fans take away from his music he stated “I want them to take away how much I believe in living life the way they see fit, going after exactly what they want and realizing it’s tangible” and his latest single is a perfect affirmation of this statement.
