Daunte Wright Killed by the police fortuitously by gun instead of teaser
On 12th April, Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon stated in a press conference that a 20-year-old black man, Daunte Wright, got shot by an officer accidentally. Later that night, a great protest was held in Minnesota city after this statement was out by the police department.
In the press conference, police chief Gannon revealed that the shooting was “accidental discharge” but soon, an officer shouted in the discussion that it was a taser during the conflict with Daunte Wright. Although the officer pulled out his handgun instead of a stun gun during the engagement, Gannon said.
The police chief also describes that he believes that the officer had no intention to shoot Mr. Wright while watching the video. But instead of a taser, she pulled out her firearm & shot the victim with a single bullet.
From the officer’s reaction and distress & from what I have watched. It appears to me that this was an accidental discharge that resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Wright, Gannon Said.
In the conference, the Police chief also described that the investigation is under process.
“Thousand people’s hearts are suffering from this awful event of young Blackman death,” Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott said. He also said that it is more than a year, and we still have not overcome the killing of George Floyd. So, a young man killed by police in our society is incomprehensible & heartbreaking.
According to a reporter, MR Wright’s mother said that officer pulled over his car for just air fresheners hanging in the back seat with the rare mirrors.
Katie Wright said that his son does not deserve to be shot and killed like this.
Last night Police had to use the National Guard after the protestor marched in to the Brooklyn Center Police Department to demand justice for the victim. Despite claims from law enforcement that the authentic footage of the body camera still exists thus far not been released to the public.
